Glocester Manton Library - Rebuilt, Refreshed, Renewed
August 2025 - Visitors to the Glocester Manton Library will now see a newly rebuilt lower level and notice the change from its former dark interior to a brightly lit, clean Community Room, due to a recently completed building renovation. The renovation is part of a $1,030,247 federal grant that is funding the complete renovation of Glocester Manton's Community Room and the addition of a new, larger room at the Harmony Library for programming and community use. The Glocester Manton Library used the funds to improve the library's interior and to make structural improvements for patron and community use.
On the lower level of the library, all the walls, floors, and ceilings were removed to expose, identify, and remove any and all mold. A French drain system with a sump pump was installed as well as installation of a new heating unit and dehumidifier. The interor got a facelift with new walls, floors, and recessed lighting a new ceiling, a new window in a renovated storage area, and painting throughout the space.
In the kitchenette, new cabinets and a countertop were installed, and in a nearby space, patrons will find three small private areas with computers, to be installed this fall, for patrons to access telehealth, employment tasks, and educational needs. View the changes in this slideshow.
